Camping
The 4 of us rode up in my grandparent's massive motor-home. It was a fun rode trip....so wild and crazy that all of us except the driver fell asleep :) We had such a fun time with my parents!
Our dog was a little bit more trouble than she was worth that weekend. Friday night Sage and I took a bike ride and just as we were getting back to camp, Shelby took off after something. We rode/walked around everywhere trying to find her. Of course this did not help Sage & my attitude...we were a bit snippy that night. Finally after an hour and a half, someone came from another campsite saying they found a stray and very scared dog. That's our little wimpy dog :) So Sage went and got her.
Saturday we were all just lounging around the campfire, right by the lake. There was a big flock of geese out in the middle of the lake. But Shelby didn't seem to interested in them...at first. I was throwing a stick in the water for her to fetch and as she was coming back to shore she started veering farther and farther away. As soon as she hit solid ground she TORE off the shoreline scattering poor little kids left and right. Sage took off after Shelby and I slowly trailed along after both of them...saying sorry to all the people they disturbed (who were thankfully all camping with us). She ran about a 1/4 mile down the shore line and both her & Sage were blocked from my line of sight. As I came around a bend I saw my dog swimming out to the MIDDLE of the lake after that stupid flock of geese. I just knew she was going to end up drowning. I was looking along the shore for my husband, and then catch a glimpse of a white, boxer-clad man wading out after the dog. Oh goodness :) I thought for a couple minutes that they were both going to drown and I did inform my husband that in the future I would pick him to live over the dog... if it came down to that. They both made it back to shore, where Shelby got a good spanking for not listening (she has issue with the command "come") and spent the afternoon locked up.
Max Twombly asked us why we didn't come get the canoe instead of Sage nearly drowning??? Hmmmm..... I do not have an answer....
Then Saturday night there was a MASSIVE thunder storm. I woke up to the wind nearly tearing our tent apart and thunder cracking right over our head. It was so loud! I could barely hear Sage. It was raining and we were getting all wet...Yes, we had the rain fly on, but that doesn't help much when it's raining sideways. And of course we felt bad for the dog and so Sage went out and got her and she slept between us (on top of the sleeping bags...definitely not IN them). My dad braved the storm to check on us, make sure we were alive. We told him we were fine, but then we started to get even more wet...so Sage, Shelby and I trooped through the wind & rain to the motorhome. Sage usually takes up most of the bed, and now we're sleeping on a narrow table bed in the motorhome. And of course Shelby is in bed with us too. So between the dog and my husband I pretty much didn't sleep the rest of the night.
Dad was anxious that we weren't getting the motorhome up the hill and out of camp ( he was actually worried all weekend, but after the rain he was even more nervous). But between all the male advice and driving help, we got out of there without a problem!
All in all, it was a good trip!

1 Year Wedding Anniversary, Woohoo!!!
We started out our day with breakfast at our favorite diner- Stone Creek Cafe! It's locally owned, amazing food, great service, fair prices & did I mention the YUMMY food :) We didn't get our "usual" table, but still managed to enjoy our time. Their pancakes & biscuits & gravy are TO DIE FOR! We highly recommend Stone Creek Cafe.
Next we went to Wahooz, formerly known as Boondocks, to get our mini-golf on. There was quite a bit of smack talk going on & even a bet made. Because of appropriateness issues, I won't be able to reveal the details of our bet ;) It was a beautiful day, 55 degrees, sunny, a little breezy, but perfect for a game of golf. There were shouts & gloats of victory, moans & groans of a 4 stroke hole, even a few frustrated moments where I may have gone a little ape crazy on my golf ball for not going in the hole like it should. It was neck and neck the entire game, I was ahead, then Sage, then we were tied... finally though Sage won... the game & the bet. In my defense, Sage was throwing his golf club around and totally whacked me in the knee with it. I have a very purple bruise & goose egg on my knee now, which is probably why I lost by only 5 points :)
After that we went to see the movie "How To Train Your Dragon" It was a great movie!! :) We highly recommend it. Don't tell him I told you, but Sage teared up a little at the end... or maybe that was me :) Then we went and checked into our hotel suite...which had it's own MASSIVE jacuzzi tub with a TV... very cool. Sage took me to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner... best food we've had. Sage even took a picture of his food :) Then we went back to the hotel and enjoyed our hot tub and wrote some goals for our next year of marriage. It was an amazing day of just spending time with my husband and forgetting the rest of the world for a bit.
Happy 1 Year Anniversary, Baby!! I can't wait to spend many more anniversaries with you. I love you with all my heart.

One Year... Almost :)
In a week we will have been married a year, it has been quite the experience:
I remember our wedding day and being so anxious to get that ceremony started :) I remember walking into the sanctuary at the church with such an excited (with a little nervous thrown in) feeling in my tummy. I remember him looking at me like I was the most beautiful woman in the world. And of course, he was so handsome in that tux. We joke now that he doesn't like any of his wedding pictures because he looks like he's 12 :) It was the happiest feeling in the world when I climbed into "our" Bronco as Mrs. Hickam! We were so exhausted when we got home and my ribs felt like they were going to crack from my dress. We just collapsed on the bed, laid there and stared at the ceiling.
We almost died twice on our honeymoon. We rented a snowmobile one of the days, the snow was so high that it covered fences and reached the bottom part of the stop signs. So obviously everything looked the same. You couldn't tell where the roads were. We tried following a map, but when you can't tell the roads from everything else, maps become quite UN-helpful. We were frightened that we would run out of gas, night would come, we would be in the middle of nowhere and then there would a headline in a few days that would read "Honeymooners Found Frozen After Three Days of Marriage." :) Thankfully, we found our way back and did not venture that far from civilization again. One of my favorite memories was sitting in the hot tub. The hot tub was on the porch of our cabin and surrounded by snow covered pine trees. We would turn the porch light off and sit in the hot tub. It snowed almost every night. We would just sit there and look up into the dark sky and watch the snow fall down. It was so beautiful, peaceful & quiet... I can actually remember hearing the snow fall. We watched movies, played games, went snowshoeing (which we weren't big fans of) and just enjoyed being married!
Have you seen the movie "Ice Age?" Well there is a character on there named Sid. Sid is a sloth. Sid has weird looking eyes. Because I have such poor eye sight, my glasses are on the thick side. So when I wear my glasses my eyes look funny. Thanks to my husband, because of this one similarity, I have inherited the nickname "Sid." I'm sure you've all seen the movies "Star Wars." My husband makes a noise that sounds curiously like the noises Chewbacca, the Wookie makes. You guessed it, Sage is now my Wookie. We actually have many, many other nicknames for each other. But the stories behind them are long & boring... but not to me :)

Sage's Birthday-Thank Heaven He's 22!
My hubby is now 22 yrs old, which makes us only 7yrs & 4months apart :) The scary part is next year when I turn 30, we won't even be in the same decade for 7yrs or so. He was so kind to point that out to me. We had a fun time for his birthday, I planned a big surprise for him. We went tubing at Bogus Basin for a couple hours, then off to Texas Roadhouse for a yummy dinner & we topped it off with a movie. It was a fun day with KJ, Cassie & my amazing hubby.
My parents had a combined birthday dinner for Jason & Sage. Sage's favorite cake is the rainbow chip cake with rainbow chip frosting. Unfortunately, this is different from the funfetti/sprinkle type cake. Mom wasn't sure which one to get. Jacob voted for rainbow chip, but mom got the funfetti. Good ol' Sage never said anything since he didn't want to hurt mom's feelings :) Mom has invented Sage's new favorite dessert: white chocolate dipped oreos. He inhaled them! Way to go Mom :)

Christmas Eve
Sage & I wanted to establish some traditions for Christmas Eve. So we both made up lists of activities we'd like to make our traditions. First, we want to go to the Christmas Eve service at church, which we did. My mom, dad, & Jacob came as well. We also decided that we'd have cheese, crackers, & summer sausage for dinner at home... just the two of us. He had egg nog, which I HATE and I had sparkling cider. And of course what Christmas would be complete with watching "A Christmas Story?" Just makes me want a Red Rider beebee gun under the tree; that or a big, pink, footsie, bunny pajama :) And, since we were both getting so anxious to give each other our presents... we went ahead and opened our stockings on Christmas Eve. Next year we want to provide a Christmas dinner for a family in need or Christmas presents for children who won't be getting much. I might be on my own for that if my hubby is in Iraq, but I'll keep the traditions up. It was a wonderful and beautiful 1st Christmas Eve together.
He worked last Christmas Eve-when we were engaged and I was in Ontario at my parents house. We had a HUGE snowfall on Christmas Eve last year and since he was in Boise working till 3am I wasn't sure that he was going to make it to Ontario. God kept him safe and sound, though he said it was a bit sketchy and he made it around 4:30ish. God has blessed us more than we could ever imagine or deserve. We both discussed how the family time and being together trumped any present. Thank you God for our loving family & friends!

Movie Night
My sister sent me a message yesterday... "UPDATE your blog"... so here's goes nothing :) I'm experiencing a writer's/blogger's block. Haven't felt like writing anything and am mad that I didn't take as many pictures at Christmas that I wanted too! It was my first married Christmas and I didn't photo document it very much :( Oh well, there's always next year....
We had a wonderful Christmas/New Year's with everyone. The week before Christmas we had a "It's a Wonderful Life" movie night at our new place. I made a crockpot of homemade chili and mom brought over some yummy carmel corn for dessert. Sage had never seen the movie and of course we all teared up at the end when Jimmy Stewart found "Zuzu's petals" and Clarence got his wings :) All in all, it was fun. Tasha, Cam, Blake & Madison spent the night at our house. In the morning I helped Tasha get Madison ready for their Family Tea with the McKinneys. And since "someone" stayed in bed, I had the boys by myself after Tasha left. I chased them around the house and spun them around in the office chair, but then I needed to get some cupcakes made. Thankfully, cupcake papers are extremely entertaining to those 2 little boys. They played with those papers for 35min at my feet in the kitchen.
After my parents picked up the boys and I had decided not to have babies for awhile, Sage & I headed out to his mom's house. It was her birthday, so we decided to take out some cupcakes and a card and a present. We stayed out there for about an hour and then headed home.
