Paint, Paint, Paint

Our house is painted! It looks awesome! Hurray :)

Walls, bathtubs and more

Next time we went there was the sheetrock walls up on the inside and our bathtubs were installed... It's so exciting to think of living in our new home. I can't believe that we're going to be 1st time home-owners. It will be so cool to see how all the colors come together... In all honesty, I'm still a little nervous to see how that all flows together :) Hopefully it's good, because like I said before... that day was decision overload and I was praying that all the color decisions we made would work well together.... But that's for another post.... we all must wait :)

My kitchen...where I will be
spending a lot of time :)

Sage hammering down a screw
that I had stepped on in my
flip flops... don't worry folks,
I'm up-to-date on my tetanus
shot :)

Our master bathroom...oval
tub just installed.... Can't wait!

Raise the Roof... Woot, Woot

I'm so behind updating this blog... we're moving in next week and I'm still blogging on getting a roof :) So this will be a short blog. We went next and the walls were up and the roof was on... it's getting closer.... so exciting!!

Footers, Foundations and Grading

I took my parents out to the property on Sunday, Sept. 13- just a few days after groundbreaking. The footers were already poured and the place where the driveway and patio would be were already graded. Sage was gone at WLC, so I was documenting things while he was gone. I went out again on Tuesday, Sept. 15 and the foundation had been poured... HURRAY

Ground Breaking

On Thursday, Sept. 10th we got a call from Rhonda letting us know that we had broken ground on our property. We were so excited! We drove right home, picked up the camera and headed out to document our new investment.

House Hunting

Sage and I talked things over in the summer and decided that we would start house hunting again. We contacted our EXCELLENT realtor to inform her of our decision and what we were looking for. As a side note, our realtor is absolutely amazing! If anyone needs a realtor, she would be a great one to go with. There are definitely some good deals out there, but we've decided, on a whole-short sales are a bit scary! I may be a bit of a germ-a-phobe, but the idea of cleaning people's grungy stuff up really creeps me out. And let me tell you, there were some disgusting and weird things out there...

Moving on: Rhonda (our realtor) took us to a Corey Barton subdivision. We looked at one house and it just wasn't what we were looking for. While we're looking, Rhonda is on the phone with Corey Barton people asking about other subdivisions. She gets off the phone and tells us she wants us to look at a house across the street. We walk in and absolutely fall in love with the place. The floor plan is awesome and perfect for us. Unfortunately it was way out of our price range. Rhonda surprised us with some interesting news: Corey Barton bought out another builder/subdivision at a reduced price. Because of this we could build the house plan that we love BELOW our price range.

Very excited and a little skeptical, we drove out to the new subdivision. It seemed to be a great neighborhood, close freeway access and in our price range. We went home and prayed about it and sought some godly counsel. After a few days we decided to proceed with building. We met with Rhonda and a Corey Barton rep. and went over the entire house plan to figure out what architectural upgrades we might want (like an island in the kitchen, window in the bathroom etc.) This was followed by a never ending mountain of signing and paperwork.

The next step was our Design Studio appt. This is where we picked out the house colors, flooring, counter tops, faucets... basically EVERYTHING that goes into/onto a house we had to pick in 3 and a half hours. Talk about your decision overload!! Thankfully our exceptional realtor came volunteered to come to that appt. with us. It's a good thing, because there was a lot of confusion going on in there (new people being trained and so on...). Finally, it was all done and I never wanted to make another decision in my life. More papers to be signed and then.... we were officially building a house!!

Be All You Can Be...ARMY

We left our camping trip on Sunday because we were both starting to feel sick. With the help of Max the men packed up the Bronco while I cleaned Tasha's dishes for her. After we got into cell phone range Sage started checking his messages. One of his messages was from his Sgt. Their unit was put on "alert" for Iraq. Needless to say it was a bit of an emotional ride home. He hasn't gotten his orders, so things are still up in the air. But we have almost a year before he leaves, which is such a blessing. We'll be able to have our 1st Christmas together (in our new house) and celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary all before he leaves. He'll probably miss my big 3-0 birthday though :( I guess it'll be up to Tasha to throw me and "over the hill" party.

I have to say, that even though it will SUCK beyond words to have him gone for a year, I am so proud of my husband. He is a wonderful man; to me, his family and to his country. I will support and love him forever! I am so blessed to be married to such an outstanding man.

He is in Utah right now attending WLC (Warrior's Leader Course)... I'm learning all the military lingo ;) He's been gone for 11 days now and I'm missing him sooooo much. It makes my heart hurt to be away from him for so long ( I know that sounds sappy to some of you, but I don't care!!!) I can't wait for him to come home. Miss you and love you baby!!

Camping Pics

Camping Fun

Well, our 2nd camping trip of the summer was quite fun....just not as smooth as the 1st one. It was the week before Sage was leaving for WLC (for 2 weeks) and so he was trying to get 3 weeks of homework done in 1 week. Then we were dealing with a bunch of new-house stuff and a million other misc. things. Of course packing for the trip didn't happen til the day-of and we were supposed to meet Brian & Sheila at 6:30 in good ol' Bear, Idaho. If you haven't guessed yet, by the time we were on the road, both of us were ready to bag camping and just go home. But, we pushed through and ended up in a tired, but good mood.
Unfortunately, that didn't last too long. To start out Shelby peed in her crate and I cleaned it up for the 35th time. Then came our mistake of trusting Yahoo Maps. For those of you wondering, the makers of Yahoo Maps are probably smoking crack. Translation: Do NOT ever use Yahoo Maps!! We ended up on some random mountain road where you could only go 15mph...we spent over an hour on the wrong road. Don't worry folks, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. We finally found Brian and Sheila!! They had patiently waited for over an hour for us.
Well, we made it to camp...then I realized that I had forgotten any shoes besides my flip-flops and our camping stove broke. Talk about a stellar start to our trip :) Shelby went bananas running around the mountains. We had a great fireside talk with Brian & Sheila. Poor Brogan got licked & tackled by Shelby numerous times.
We went on a very lovely (but LONG) drive and the dog fell out of the truck twice. We went shooting and my wonderful hubby gave me some pointers. We got chased by a romantically frustrated bull...who also wandered through our camp twice...mean looking guy. My choice of flashlights were ridiculed over the fireside talk...I bought 2 flashlights for $3...a great deal, but maybe not the best quality of lighting :) Despite the many chaotic moments of our camping trip, it was loads of fun! I had a wonderful time with my hubby and with our friends. It was a weekend full of memories.

PS- Did I mention that we also got a flat tire on the Bronco??? :)

FAMILY PICS

We celebrated my parent's 30th wedding anniversary on Saturday (whoop, whoop). My mom has been wanting updated family pics for awhile. So we gathered all the fam: Tasha, Jason, Madi, Blake, Cam, Mom, Dad, Bianca, Jacob, Me & my wonderful hubby. Besides being swarmed by mosquitoes, rained on and nearly struck by lighting it was a great night! JK.... we didn't nearly get struck by lighting...but it was close. After, we got to eat at MACHUCA'S!!! That is my ALL-TIME favorite Mexican food place EVER!! It's the bomb! Bianca's brand-new boyfriend joined us for dinner there and we had great fun teasing them both. Mostly we teased Bianca about her control issues when it comes to making cookies. In short, a very fun time was had by all. And thanks to mom & dad for treating us to dinner! Love you guys!! These are just some random pics that I took with my camera.
